How Your Marketing Can Benefit From Tim Tebow & “The Snuggie”

Something odd occurred to me the other day.

And it has to do Tim Tebow & your marketing.

In my mind you can learn A LOT from Mr. Tim Tebow.

First — have you ever seen how he throws the ball? I’m no Quarterback’s coach, but I can say that it’s flat out UGLY. It’s almost painful to watch. But here’s the thing…

It WORKS — So far at least.

He’s no Aaron Rodgers (Go pack!) but he finds a way to get the job done and makes sure he can tally another “W” next to his name.

It reminds me a lot of “Madison Avenue” advertisements.

(ex: TV commercials for Lexus or Coca-Cola)

Compare these “pretty” ads to the “ugly” infomercials for something like The Snuggie.

Other than their appearance, what’s the difference between the two?

Straight up it’s this…

The producers of the Snuggie know how many dollas’ are a result of that specific ad.

Wanna know how they do it?

It’s super tricky, so all ya’ll at Lexus pay attention…

AMAZING 2 STEP FORMULA: 1.) Run Ad, 2.) Measure How Many Actions Are Taken

(Read it twice and let it sink in.)

The amazing thing is…

I heard at one point they were selling 2 Snuggies every second. Obviously, this ad was working – despite how lame the advertisement was. And unlike a lot of other ads they can easily track, measure, and analyze their results. Yes, the Snuggie commercials are ugly and annoying…

BUT they work…like gangbusters.

So, here’s what I suggest for you:

Don’t think that your marketing needs to be “pretty.”

More often than not ugly works better.

(As long as you speak to the needs of your customers.)

But you’ll never know unless you test and track your results.

Personally I track just ’bout everythang.

I’m obsessed with it.

Not only does it indulge my nerdy side, I know that it puts more dinero in my wallet.

So take it from Tim Tebow — throw a few ugly and annoying ads into the mix and see how they stack up.

More often than not, you’ll be surprised by the results.
