Harvard Professor’s Quirky Marketing Secret

Got an interesting story for you today.

A story that perfectly illustrates a misconception in the world of marketing that is keeping a lot of people broke (when they don’t need to be).

Here’s what I’m talking about…

I recently was chatting on Skype with a buddy of mine.

He’s a smart cookie too.

The guy’s in his last semester at Harvard Business School.

Anyhoo…

He was telling me about a nugget o’ wisdom that one of his professors told his class.

Not some abstract theory from a stuffy textbook…

…but a gem from the school of “hard knocks.”

(The teacher recently sold his company for 8 figures and by no means needs to teach to support himself. In fact he could swim around in his Olympic-sized pool of money like Scrooge McDuck if he wanted to.)

Here’s what he said:

“It’s essential to deliberately make people QUALIFY themselves for your product or service.”

In other words, instead of trying to get everyone to buy…

…make people “prove” that they are worthy of having your product.

Here’s a few examples:

1.) “This product isn’t for the timid or weak.”

(Translation: If you don’t buy you’re timid or weak.)

2.) “Yes. This product is expensive and most people might not be able to afford it. If so, that’s okay…”

(Translation: You’re poor and uncool if you don’t buy.)

Here’s what it all boils down to…

Making your product more exclusive — or making it seem that way — will ultimately sell more of whatever you’re hawking.

All elite marketers will tell you the same.

(See http://www.your1st10kmonth.com for more detail).

The fact of the matter is, people want what is rare and valuable.

They don’t want what any ol’ person can have.

They want to be special.

So let ‘em be special.

You don’t have to change your product.

Just the *perception* of your product.

Now.

There’s more ins-and-outs to these Jedi mind tricks that will make them 10x more effective – so long as you’re smart enough to use them (see what I did there?)

And one guy that has it down cold.

PS: If you’re the type of person that wants to be successful, but just sits on their butt instead of taking action — then this course isn’t for you.
