All successful marketers have one thing in common…

They understand how to stretch their marketing dollas’.

(Like a bawss.)

And there’s one thing that 99.9972% of top-gun marketers do, almost like clockwork. One famous marketer said that doing this one thing “triples his sales without even trying.”

Wanna know the secret?

Simply it’s this:

At every point-of-purchase (P.O.P. for snobby MBAs like me) you offer your prospect more stuff they might like.

In the biz – this is known as an “upsell.”

Even if you’re already schooled in the lucrative world of upselling…

…consider this…

I was recently checking out the stats of an awesome affiliate product I was considering promoting. Of the thousands of people that bought the front-end product, an ASTOUNDING number of people bought the upsell.

Any guesses at how many bought?

A staggering 48% people bought the upsell.

(BTW…the price of the upsell was 3x the price of the front end product.)

Now.

A word of warning.

There’s a right and wrong way to upsell a customer.

Two ground rules for not being a D-bag with your upsell process…

* 1.) Your initial offer (aka your front-end offer) should be kick ass all on it’s own. The customer shouldn’t have to buy your upsell to make your front-end offer work.

People should be thrilled with just the front end product.

Now remember…

An upsell is a supplement to your product…

…NOT a necessity to make it work.

* 2.) Limit the number of upsells to a reasonable amount.

Recently I bought a product online that had 11 – yes 11, upsells.

It was frackin’ ridiculous.

I’d say 4 is the absolute limit of number of upsells.

But this differs for everyone.

Yes, you’ll likely make more money with more upsells BUT…flood your buyers with an endless stream of “GIVE ME MONEY!” B.S. and they’ll probably curse the day they bought from you for as long as they can remember.

Well that about does it for today’s marketing nugget.

Remember, upselling can EASILY triple your business.

Granted — you need to do it without being a sleezbag.

There’s one guy that’s perfected the process…

Someone I think you should emulate.

See his magical upsell land o’ glory here:

But the sad truth is, it ain’t right for everyone. It’s no wonder why 95%+ of people that try internet marketing never make a single sale.

So I thought I’d do something outside the norm.

The instructions are simple.

Answer the 3 questions (below) honestly, then use the Cosmo inspired feedback section to see how you stack up. Ready?

Let’s do it…

==========

QUESTION #1) You’re struck with an entrepreneurial “A-ha moment” for a new business idea. The first thing you do is:

A.) Ask your family and friends if they think it’s a good idea.
B.) Setup a small test campaign to gauge initial response.
C.) Cash in your 401k to start building an amazing looking website.

QUESTION #2) You find yourself working more than 8 hours a day to get your business going. You’re feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. What do you do?

A.) Put on another pot of coffee and work even harder to get your work done.
B.) Pay someone else to do it for you.
C.) Buy another “how to” course on the newest way to make money online.

QUESTION #3) You just started a new website. You have some free time to spend improving the site. What do you do?

A.) Carefully analyze the site’s analytics report.
B.) Work on making your logo more professional.
C.) Install Facebook and Twitter buttons.

Sweet. Let’s go through the results…

Tally up the points for each of your responses, and then see how you did.

By the way, I’ve never done this before nor do I know what I’m doing…Just a little disclaimer .

Question 1:

A = 0 (Who cares what THEY think? More likely than not, they’ll discourage you from doing something that’s actually a good idea. If you do ask their advice, I wouldn’t take their input seriously.)
B = +7 (You’re a smarty pants, and a nerd like me. NEVER rely on how you feel something will work. Always let your data do the work for you)
C = -7 (Please, please, please do not do this. Pretty please!?)

Question 2:

A = 0 (I like your work ethic, but let’s be honest…the whole point of all this isn’t to make your life a living hell. Trust me, I’ve been there and it sucks)
B = +7 (If you chose B I like the way you think. If not, start thinking this way. Why? Because as the business owner it’s your responsibility to manage the business, not do all the work yourself!)
C = -7 (Trust me, more than likely you don’t need more information. Here’s a general rule I like to follow. One hour of learning new things = a MINIMUM of three hours of implementing that learning)

Question 3:

A = +7 (Very nice! I love your dorky, yet money makin’ attitude. Keep it up!)
B = -7 (Ok — I know a nice looking logo is sweet, but truth be told, your prospects don’t give a hoot what it looks like. They’d rather you spend the time helping them solve their problems!)
C = 0 (Yea, Facebook and Twitter are all the rage — but until you start growing and helping your prospects, all the FB status updates and Tweets aren’t gonna help put dough in your pocket.)

RESULTS:

-21 to -7 –> I would seriously reconsider trying to make a living online.
-6 to 7 –> There’s still hope for you!!
8 to 14 –> You can definitely make this work.
15 to 21 –> You were born for this!

Alrighty then.

Here’s some counter-intuitive advice…

I want you to start treating your customers like dirt.

I don’t mean walk all over them. I don’t mean disregard their feelings. I certainly don’t mean look at them like a wallet with “human-like” tendencies. Instead…

Treat them like you’ve potted a new plant.

Without the proper amounts of water and sunlight your metaphorical plant will never blossom into crisp hundred dollar bills.

Here’s a related question I recently got from a subscriber:

“Robert, why do you email us everyday? I mean, I enjoy reading your emails, but other marketers only mail a few times a week!”

Here’s my response:

It REALLY depends on the market you’re in.

For example, in the internet marketing niche I know people want to devour every last nugget of wisdom that comes their way.

How do I know this?

I’m part of the market — and I’m an absolute FANATIC about learning new ways to make dough online!

There are certain email lists that I’m on that I wouldn’t mind getting emails 3 times per day.

Like plants, all markets are different.

You need to understand your niche first. But here’s the thing:

If you’re speaking your prospect’s “language” (talking to their fears and desires), you really cannot communicate with them too much.

And, you need to always remember to keep things fun and informal.

Make it fun to keep communicating with you.

(This does NOT give you the license to send people only hard sales pitches!)

This doesn’t only apply to email. It applies to every form of communication possible: Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Podcasts, and heck…even physical (pen and ink) mail.

One last point.

If you have something that you know will unquestionably help your market, then by all means you NEED to be communicating as much as possible.

It’s your obligation to help them improve their lives.

If you’re product ain’t a big ol’ piece of crap, people will thank you for helping them alleviate their pain.

Well, that about raps it up for today.

For more ways to make your marketing easy, fun, and insanely profitable check out:

I’m a huge nerd.

Whenever I discover an (ethical) trick or technique that can make my biz run better, I be on dat. Hard.

Not only am I a nerd, but I’m also super duper lazy. (Trust me, ask anyone that knows me and they’ll tell you the same thing about me).

But enough about me, let’s get down to business.

Any guesses of what my nerdy sale-making-booty-shakin’ affiliate trick is?

Unfortunately it has nothin’ to do with a cutting-edge technology (push-button software) that will do all the work for ya.

Sorry dudes.

In fact, it’s been around since before the dawn of the intro-net and quite frankly…

…it’s what separates the winners from the Losers (notice the capital “L”).

Let me put it this way… how well you use this strategy will decide if you will be laughing all the way to the bank, or searching on Craiglist for your next job.

Here it is: As an affiliate you need to AT LEAST START with one of the following.

1.) An offer that converts.

OR…

2.) A quality traffic source that you can scale.

NEVER, ever combine an unknown traffic source with an unproven offer.

It is the recipe for throwing a LOT of shekels down the toilet — real quick fast mang.

When you have both a proven offer and a (scalable) reliable traffic source. That’s when the real fun starts.

To learn the best ways to find both proven offers and reliable traffic sources (that can be scaled to the moon!)…

Click on dis here link.
